ASPIRE Program Eligibility Requirements

To receive ASPIRE program services students must meet federal guidelines:

• U.S. citizens or permanent residents
• Low-income
• Registered with the DRC
• First-generation college students

Support Services

ASPIRE offers ADVISING services for eligible undergraduate SJSU students.

• One-on-one advising sessions with your advisor addressing your needs.
• Assistance with course scheduling and registration for all ASPIRE students.
• Information on campus resources, policies and procedures for all ASPIRE students.

Freshmen

Freshman Year Experience (FYE) is for first year students who want to be part of a fun and exciting learning community. Students can increase their personal and educational power:

• Three Day Summer Pre-Semester Orientation
  You'll meet new friends and learn about SJSU
• University Studies 95 (Academic Leaders Class)
  Upgrade your study skills and knowledge about life in college. (Fall)
• Sociology 57 (Community Involvement and Personal Growth)
  Engage in a service-learning project with a multicultural organization. (Spring)

Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors

Do you know what you want to do once you receive your Baccalaureate Degree? Do you plan to apply to graduate school? Or would you rather go straight into the workforce? Beyond the Baccalaureate Planning staff will work with you to explore, identify, and map out a plan to take you the next step.

Social and Cultural Enrichment Activities

Want to have some fun? Take time to join ASPIRE students and staff for a host of exciting and fun activities; annual Spring BBQ, fall semester graduation and awards reception, winter holiday party, theater performance, dances, field trips to bay area spots of interest, cultural awareness days and much more
